2009 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame

The Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame celebrates local companies and individuals with the dedication, creativity and energy that will see Victorian manufacturing continue to go from strength to strength.

This year's dinner was themed "Meeting the Challenge", highlighting the businesses that are successfully confronting issues such as the global financial crisis, international competition, climate change, skills shortages and rapid technological change by developing innovative solutions that are setting them up as world leaders in their sector.

There were 9 companies inducted into the 2009 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame and two people received Honour Roll awards for their long standing contribution to manufacturing in Victoria.

Brad Dunstan, CEO of VCAMM presented the John Button Award from Reengineering Australia (REA).  It was awarded this year to Michael Germano, a Science Teacher from Laverton Secondary School in recognition of his work encouraging manufacturing and engineering in his school through REA's F1 in Schools program.

Young Manufacturer of the Year was won by David Fitzpatrick, Engineering Manager at Hilton Manufacturing, and Sandra George was awarded the Jim Watkins Award for her hard work and determination in making a significant contribution to the manufacturing industry.
